Consumers loving that gasoline dropped 50 cents per gallon
Monday, October 06, 2008
Everything Michigan -- Rob Groll stopped at the Sunoco early today so his wife could pick up a few items at its Express Stop Food Store.

"She said while you're here you might as well fill up, the price is so good," said the 40-year-old Saginaw Township landscaper of the station at 4480 State in Saginaw Township. "Any time you pay less it's nice. Oil is down to about $90 a barrel."

Gasoline prices have fallen nearly 50 cents per gallon in the past two weeks. On Tuesday, AAA Michigan reported that gasoline in the Saginaw/Bay City area averaged $3.968.

That's still 45 cents more than last year's $2.86 average for the week.

jacksonville is down to $3.35 a gallon. looks like a gas war has started on one section of town. the high is $.46 higher a gallon. no shortage, no lines, just plenty of gas. also it may help that we have a deep water port with large tank farms.

It's interesting BMWer, in Toronto we are at $1.05 and Alberta is where a great deal of oil is. But you are right, $1.01 is a much better price.

it's still to high for me, im boycotting gasoline, i'm consuming at the lowest i have ever consumed gasoline, driving my car sparingly and using alternative methods of transportation. And having learned that Hess is one of the few companies that does not get their fuel from the middle east, i buy almost exclusively there and never at the citgo which is owned by venezuela(socialist/communist)society who has close relations with Iran, Russia.

We are at $1.13 per litre in Calgary....why is Ottawa at $1.01 when they have higher taxes in the province and Alberta has the oil???

Gas has not dropped 50 cents here in the last two weeks. However, the average price in this area is only about $3.49, and that is with the highest tax per gallon in the U.S.

$1.01 to $1.02 in Ottawa this morning. Not sure if it'll go lower as the
price of oil just went up again.

$2/gal would be nice. That is the economic stimulus that is needed. Once people aren't getting loans just to pay for fuel, they will have a lot more money to put into the economy.

Great example of desensitization of rediculous overinflated pricing. Fuel goes up $1.50/gallon, comes back down 50 cents, and people rejoice!

The temporary relief to the pocketbook is nice, BUT... it is feeding into our addiction to oil, and that will, in the longer run, take us down, weaken us as a nation, and allow OPEC to manage and control our lives...

I am just not ready to give up the United States of America I love, so that we fall under the control of some Middle Eastern group that neither understands us nor likes us... all because of an oil addiction.

I am negotiating for the use of a shower so I can ride my bicycle to work (about 18 miles each way) instead of drive...

Fuel price is only a fraction of todays concern. If the stock market continues to drop, nobody will have ANY 401k monies left to retire on or with and with companies dropping more and more pension programs, good luck. We'll all be living on the streets. This sucks! We might just end up with a government revolt and a revolution yet.

can someone please tell me how $3.96 per gallon is only 45 cents more per gallon then last year's average of $2.86. It looks like $1.10 to me. didn't anyone proof read this article before posting it.
